Code of Conduct for Okapi Wanderers RFC Parents and Spectators.
Young rugby players are impressionable and their behavior will often reflect that of adults around them. In Rugby Union we welcome spectators on our touchlines who embrace the ethos of the game as one of fun, enjoyment and skill development.

In Rugby Union spectators are encouraged to:
1 Act as positive role models to all young players.
2 Be familiar with, and abide by, USA Rugby Parent/Spectator guidelines in relation to sideline behavior and emotional abuse.
3 Respect the rugby club policy with regard to Parent/Spectator behavior.
In Rugby Union spectators should:
4 Remember children play sport for their enjoyment not yours.
5 Acknowledge good individual and team performance from all youngsters irrespective of which team they play for.
6 Respect match official's decisions. Remember, they are volunteers providing an opportunity for youngsters to play rugby.
7 Never verbally abuse young players, match officials, fellow spectators or coaches. Such behavior can create a negative environment for young players and their behavior will often reflect this.
8 Acknowledge effort and good performance rather than the "win at all costs" ethic.
9 Verbally encourage all youngsters in a positive way. If you do want to shout make sure it is 'for', not 'at', the players.
10 Condemn bad language, rude behavior and violence.
11 Encourage all youngsters irrespective of their ability – never ridicule any individual player, regardless of the team they play for.
12 Let the coach coach
13 Keep in mind that lecturing your children after the game will not improve their skills
14 Please review the laws of the game so that you understand the game
15 Remember is just a game!

Code of Conduct for Okapi Wanderers RFC Players.

1 Play for enjoyment and become part of the rugby family.
2 Respect the ‘Game of Rugby’ and play within the Laws of the Game.
3 Accept the referee’s decision and let your captain or coach ask any relevant questions.
4 Play with control. Do not lose your temper.
5 Always do your best and be committed to the game, your team and your club.
6 Be a ‘good sport’. Applaud all good play whether by your team or the opposition.
7 Respect your opponent. Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Do not ‘bully’ or
take advantage of any player.
8 Rugby is a team sport and make sure you co-operate with your coach; team mates
and members of your club.
9 Remember that the goals of the game are to have fun, improve your skills and feel good.
10 At the end of the match thank your opponents and the referee for the match.
11 Always remember that you owe a duty of care to your opponents. Tackle hard but
fairly, do not intend to hurt your opponent.
12 Winning and losing is part of sport: Win with humility – lose with dignity.
13 As part of the team it is important that you attend training regularly and listen to your
coach and help your team.
14 As a team sport it is important to understand that all members are important to the team!
15 Remember you are representing your team, club, family and the Game of Rugby
16 Never try to gather your fellow team mates to participate in any incident that in any way or shape would be in detriment of your Club on or off the field

Okapi Wanderers RFC, has a disciplinary committee in place to decide on any and all disciplinary issues whether they be or on off the field.
Sanctions (listed below) to be exercised by the Disciplinary Committee in the event of an individual or individuals behaving in a manner deemed inconsistent with the Okapi Wanderers RFC code of ethics.

Note: Okapi Wanderers RFC reserves the right to temporarily suspend any individual (player, parent or spectator) deemed to be in violation of this Code of Ethics, without notice until such time as the disciplinary committee is able to convene.
