Parents and Players

The Florida Youth Rugby Union has changed from "school grade divisions" to simply "age divisions" from this season on, therefore some players will be moved to the new divisions.

Okapi Wanderers Rugby Board of Directors attended the Annual General Meeting for the Union on Sunday November 12th 2017 in Cocoa Beach and the union proposed these changes and it was voted by the attending Union members.

The reason for this change is for to the fact that most rugby teams are clubs and not schools so USA Rugby is moving away from trying to "get into" schools via the HSAA and focusing on our core which is club teams like Okapi Wanderers Rugby FC.

The example of Florida is common across the rest of the USA. There are fifteen youth rugby teams in Florida of which only three are schools (Sebastian River, St Thomas and Cardinal Gibbons) the other 12 are clubs.

The new age divisions will be as follows;

U9, U11, U13 , U15, U17 and U19, once you register with Okapi Wanderers Rugby your child will be placed in the correct age division, if you have already registered with Okapi Wanderers Rugby your child will be placed in the correct division automatically when our registration database is updated.

We will redirect players this week to the correct team.

Managers and Coaches will be letting children and parents know the new teams structure.

The FYRU will be sending the schedule of games before the end of the month and we will post them as soon as we get them.

If you have any questions please contact your team manager of send us an email to info@okapiwanderersrugby.com
